Zander is a lean fish with low fat content. It features white, delicate, and very tasty meat with a not too intense fish aroma. It contains health-beneficial ingredients: selenium, vitamin D, and B12.
Smaller specimens can be baked whole, grilled, or cooked in a salt crust or with herbs. It pairs excellently with vegetables, both hot and cold, for example in jelly. It enjoys various sauces, such as those with capers or mayonnaise. It can be seasoned with dill, paprika, thyme, or parsley.
